The security issue is an XSS exploit discovered by Jeremias Reith that fortunately only affects IP-based virtual servers running on Apache 2.x.
You should always keep your webapp up-to-date. You don’t want to wake up one morning just to find your site full of pharma spam and hidden links, do you? That would be awful
